How High Could Bitcoin Go in USD? Expert Forecasts Compiled (Updated Nov 2026)

How high Bitcoin can go is the most searched question, but the answer in 2026 is sharply divided: from scenarios of a deep fall below USD 40,000 to targets of USD 200,000–250,000. This article compiles forecasts from institutions and experts, explains the reasons for the differences and offers a more realistic view. Follow more analysis on the ITF Blog.

Background: Bitcoin has been through a year of deep correction

According to CoinGecko (updated 23 July 2026), Bitcoin peaked at USD 126,080 in October 2025, then fell by more than half to a low of around USD 58,000 in late June 2026. The main causes were the Fed’s cautious stance and outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs. By late October 2026, Finance Magnates reported Bitcoin testing the USD 80,000 area.

Long-term targets

Long-term targets are more thesis-driven than year-by-year forecasts: Standard Chartered pushed its USD 500,000 target to 2030; Cathie Wood (ARK) targets USD 1.2 million by 2030; Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong targets USD 1 million by 2030; and Michael Saylor puts forward USD 21 million by 2046. JPMorgan also estimated a theoretical level of about USD 266,000 if Bitcoin were valued like gold on a volatility-adjusted basis, but stressed this is “unrealistic” for 2026.

Why do forecasts differ so much?

  • The 4-year cycle: the “cycle still intact” camp sees 2026 as a correction year, while the “institutional era” camp expects ETF inflows to break the cycle.

  • Fed policy: interest rates held higher for longer than expected weigh on risk assets.

  • ETF flows and corporate holders of Bitcoin: net outflows reduce buying power.

  • Regulation: progress on digital-asset legislation affects institutional capital flows.

A realistic view

With price around USD 80,000 in late October 2026, year-end targets of USD 100,000–150,000 would require a very large rise in just over a month, which is unlikely. This is a reference opinion. Importantly, no forecast is guaranteed; according to CoinGecko, institutions that adjusted targets to price action in 2026 have mostly cut rather than raised them.

What should investors do?

  • Don’t bet on a single forecast number.

  • Allocate only a small share – money you can accept losing.

  • Consider dollar-cost averaging (DCA) instead of trying to catch the bottom.

  • Use a Stop Loss and money management if trading short-term.

  • Watch major events: Fed decisions, ETF flows, regulatory news.

Conclusion

Bitcoin forecasts range from USD 25,000 to over USD 250,000, showing very high uncertainty. Instead of looking for the “right number,” build a risk-management plan that works in both bad and good scenarios.
