Gold breaks below $3,942, $3,500 target in focus

Gold slipped under a key support level, opening the path to lower targets around $3,789 and a possible test of $3,500.
Spot gold (XAU/USD) fell through the $3,942 support zone on Friday, confirming a bearish continuation pattern. The move pushed the price to a new corrective low near $3,870 and put the market under the higher swing low of $3,886 recorded in October 2025. Sellers dominated the session, delivering a solid red candle that suggests further downside pressure may follow.
Falling channel dynamics increase downside risk
Technical analysis shows gold trading within a descending channel whose upper boundary was last tested at $4,697. The mid‑line of the channel, previously acting as support around $3,975, was breached to the downside, raising the probability that the lower channel boundary could become the next support level.
- Next measured‑move support around $3,789
- Fibonacci zone between $3,706 and $3,650
- Historical low from April 2025 near $3,500
Resistance levels for a potential bounce
If buying re‑emerges, the first hurdle is the broken $3,942 level, followed by the recent swing high at $4,082 and the 20‑day moving average near $4,098, which is also trending lower.
